Train Dreams
I’m genuinely glad that I’ve witnessed a masterpiece in 2025. I’m not sure if I’ll remember this movie years from now or even revisit it, but Train Dreams is the kind of film that quietly draws you in. Watching it felt like being placed somewhere alongside Joel Edgerton’s Robert — living his small pocket of happiness, his silence, his solitude, and the shifting world around him. This film is narrated, showcased, and presented with such elegance that it’s hard to look away. Its choice of the 1.43 aspect ratio—one of my favourite formats for the sheer immersion it offers—is used beautifully here. The cinematography doesn’t just fill the frame; it makes the frame feel open, alive, and endlessly absorbing. I genuinely couldn’t look away. Edgerton, Felicity Jones, William H.
