The Gentlemen
Guy Ritchie’s black-comedy crime world is only growing on me. The Gentlemen returns with a stronger second season that dives deeper into its criminal ecosystem, raises the risks considerably, and gives its characters more room to evolve. Add a cast constantly trying to outplay one another, and the season becomes incredibly easy to stay invested in. But among everyone involved, Theo James owns the spotlight as Eddie Horniman, the Duke of Halstead. The controlled confidence he carried in the first season develops into something far more commanding here, and watching that transformation is easily one of Season 2’s biggest strengths. Picking up after the events of Season 1, the story follows Eddie and Susie Glass as they look to expand their operation under Bobby Glass, while quietly pursuing an ambition of their own — taking the marijuana business towards legitimacy without Bobby knowing. I’d love to go further into what happens from there, but that would quickly enter spoiler territory.
