The Devil's Mouth
Prime Video's The Devil's Mouth is a survival thriller that struggles to justify its own premise, delivering very little of the tension, dread, or excitement that a shark-centric film promises. Instead of capitalizing on its claustrophobic setting, it sinks into a monotonous experience that rarely finds a pulse. The story follows five friends on a vacation who decide to explore an underwater cave known as The Devil's Mouth. What begins as an adventurous expedition quickly turns into a desperate fight for survival after they discover deadly sharks lurking within the cave system. Trapped deep underwater with limited ways out, the film revolves around their attempts to escape, who manages to survive, and the consequences of the choices they make. The film's weakest link, surprisingly, isn't the underwhelming CGI sharks—it's the performances.
