I've watched "Thalavan", and the first thing that comes to mind is : what's so brilliant about this film as many claim ? Is it the performances, plot/storytelling, or action ? I went in without watching the teaser or trailer, just hoping for a good film, but for me, it didn't deliver. The film is quite slow paced, with a decent first half but a rather tiring second half, making it a subpar experience overall. While the performances from Asif Ali and Biju Menon are decent, apart from the environment setting (production design), nothing truly drew me in or convinced me to engage with the storytelling. It neither delivered thrills, wow moments, nor surprises. Throughout, I just found myself thinking, ‘Ah' ! If it piques your interest, give it a watch. If not, I don’t think you’ll be missing out on much.
