RRR
RRR is yet another technical magnum opus from S.S. Rajamouli, and before getting into the story or how well the film works as a whole, its craftsmanship deserves its share of appreciation. There are so many departments working at a massive scale here—production design, visual effects, sound design, editing, cinematography and the overall staging—and the effort behind putting something of this size together is clearly visible. And I specifically say technically, because my experience with the film itself is considerably more mixed. At its core, RRR is a fairly average action drama elevated by Rajamouli’s ability to mount sequences on an enormous scale. The central conflict is established really well, and the fiery introductions of its two leads immediately give the first half the energy it needs.
