Robinhood
Robinhood is yet another below-average, routine rom-com action drama from recent releases. It works in parts but ultimately falls flat due to a weak and overstretched narrative, excessive and irritating after-effects usage, and poor character dubbing—including that of the protagonist himself. Although it had the potential to deliver decent commercial entertainment, its transition from paper to screen didn’t work at all, with the primary culprit being director Venky’s writing and script. The lead actress’s character is meant to be dumb, which is fine, but she’s so absurdly clueless that even a mental hospital patient would have a better grasp of their surroundings than she does. The villain is far from terrific, and the entire ‘Saami Saachi’ gang feels like a recycled batch of characters straight out of Venky’s past film Chalo. A couple of songs by GV Prakash were good, but the background score is yet another letdown. This is something you might watch when it premieres on TV, but honest
