Mutiny
Mutiny arrives with all the familiar promises of a Jason Statham vehicle, and expectations are usually straightforward: don't look for a complex narrative, just deliver satisfying action. That formula has worked often enough in the past, even when the stories themselves were merely serviceable. Unfortunately, this outing struggles to provide either. Outside of a handful of recent okay-ish in his filmography, Statham's actioners have increasingly felt repetitive, and Mutiny continues that downward trend. The film recycles a well-worn revenge template without adding anything remotely fresh to it. Beneath its surface lies an uninspired screenplay that mistakes routine genre conventions for engaging storytelling.
