Materialists
Materialists is a beautifully told love drama (slow burner of course) from Celine Song—but here’s the plot twist. While the film is a treat to watch, especially with Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans effortlessly holding the screen for two hours, the end result is a mixed bag. The narrative flows so naturally that it feels like watching someone’s life unfold in real time. But when you look back, the plot begins to feel a bit absurd—certain moments lack conviction, as if scenes were written in isolation and performed as is, regardless of whether they align with the story’s emotional thread. That said, the cinematography is stunning, and despite its narrative flaws, Materialists remains a beautiful experience — watchable for the leads alone.
