Like Mad, its sequel Mad Square doesn’t land well within its genre for me. There were barely a few jokes that worked, but the rest felt like watching a daily TV serial without any real comedy. The first half was passable (initial 40-50 mins), but once the movie shifts to Goa backdrop, it became almost unbearable. Despite a short runtime of just two hours, I found myself checking the time every few minutes, waiting for it to end. If I had to highlight anything in particular, Vishnu Oi and Sangeet Shobhan’s characters stand out. Songs by Bheems were good. This is yet another unwanted sequel or best for OTT. Those who liked Mad may enjoy this one too. For everyone else, watch it at your leisure—or don’t, it’s absolutely fine. Either way, the few jokes that worked will find their way into memes.
