Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra
Lokah is a good supernatural action-comedy drama, carried by the charming screen presence of lead pair Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen, with strong support from Sandy as the antagonist and Salim Kumar as the hero’s friend. The first half moves a bit slowly but does a fair job of world-building with a passable screenplay, never really dragging. The second half picks up pace, yet the film closes with an ending that feels somewhat unsatisfying to me — almost as if it had the potential to be much bigger than what it turned out to be. On the action front, whatever is there works well, but the film doesn’t lean heavily into it, as the focus stays more on narrative, suspense, buildup, and fun. Cameos add to the enjoyment. On the technical front, sound design/score (Jakes Bejoy & team) and cinematography (Nimish Ravi) deserve appreciation, both standing out for their top-notch quality.
