Kannappa
A good final 30 minutes doesn’t justify forcing the audience through 2 hours and 30 minutes of poorly executed filmmaking. Kannappa sadly falls into this trap. Right from the acting to the production design, cinematography, and music — everything feels artificial, lacking realism or any sense of believability. Ironically, it’s the writing and dialogues in the final act that bring some redemption, not the craft surrounding it. Prabhas’ character is one of the few well-written aspects of the film, and the actual story only begins with his arrival. Without that turning point, the film would’ve completely tanked. This 1.5-star rating is solely for those final 30 minutes — surprisingly, the dialogues and performances by Vishnu, Prabhas, Mohan babu land well here, unlike the rest of the film. A few scattered scenes might work, but overall, Kannappa is a struggle to sit through. Despite the claims of a lavish budget in the media, none of it reflects on screen.
