Ravi Teja’s Irumudi is a passable drama that works in bits and pieces, with scattered humour, some suspense, and an emotional core that occasionally lands better than the film around it. Shiva Nirvana has a fairly good plot point in hand, along with a social message that could have given the film more weight. The intention behind it is clear, but the screenplay doesn’t always bring those ideas together convincingly. The narrative takes a rather uneven route to reach where it wants to go, and somewhere along the way, part of what the film is trying to say gets diluted. Ravi Teja and Sai Kumar are dependable as always. Both are exceptional actors, and they comfortably bring out what their respective characters demand without making the performances feel forced. But the little scene-stealer here is Nakshathra. There’s an effortless warmth whenever she is on screen, and her presence becomes one of the film’s most likeable elements.
