I'm Game
Three years after King of Kotha, Dulquer Salmaan returns to Malayalam cinema with I’m Game. Unfortunately, the long wait doesn’t result in a much better outing. At its heart, I’m Game is a revenge action drama with a potentially good plot idea. But the film is far more interested in looking slick than giving that idea enough weight, eventually turning into an exercise in style and narrative fatigue. The film takes its sweet time getting to the point. Nearly 40 minutes pass before the actual action begins, but surprisingly, this stretch is among the better portions. There’s enough intrigue to keep things moving, and once the conflict starts taking shape, a few moments land effectively on the way to the interval. It feels like the film might finally have found its footing. Then comes the second half. A flashback that runs for close to an hour completely disrupts whatever momentum the film has built. The screenplay becomes painfully straightforward, the developments are easy to anticipate
