Bethlehem Kudumba Unit
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit (BKU) may not be Girish A.D.’s best film yet, but it certainly doesn’t disappoint for most of its runtime. It’s a cool, easy-going romantic comedy that knows exactly the kind of film it wants to be. There’s plenty of humour, a little romance and just enough drama in between, without making things unnecessarily heavy. Most importantly, it keeps things simple and pleasant, which made it an easy watch for me. It had also been quite some time since I watched Nivin Pauly on screen, and I genuinely enjoyed seeing him again. There’s an effortless charm to his presence here that works really well with the film’s relaxed nature. Mamitha Baiju, meanwhile, continues her good run and is once again completely at ease in this space. Their chemistry brings a certain warmth to the film, as long as you don’t take everything too seriously or try to view the relationship from a very personal perspective. The supporting cast adds a lot to that atmosphere too. Sangeeth Prathap, Vinay
